Ford and hydrogen fuel cells

Ford is conducting a three-year hydrogen fuel cell trial for its E-Transit commercial vehicle. Ford has partnered with industry leaders like Ocado Retail, bp, Cambustion, Viritech, and Cygnet Texkimp for this project. The goal is to validate the business case, develop hydrogen refueling infrastructure, and test the fuel cell system. This trial targets delivery van operators with energy-intensive use cases, requiring extended range and quick refueling. Ford's initiative aligns with the Biden administration's push for electric vehicles, as they have provided a loan to Ford and SK On, Ford's battery manufacturing partner, to establish battery factories in the United States. This investment supports domestic production and reduces dependence on foreign battery manufacturers.
